I own one Ford Explorer and one Bonneville, both of them 99 model. Few months back while changing engine oil for both I used sludge remover on both vehicle before putting new oil. After few days of fine running both the vehicles stared giving me flashing check engine light. Error code says Spark plug 6 misfiring on both cars. I replaced Spark plug and checked wire and actual spark on bonneville. Cars runs with lots of jerks and with all the symptoms of misfiring. Please help. Thanks

I used a high mile engine cleaner once and it collapsed the lifters in my 96 Astro. There was more dirt in the top half than there was before I used it. I too had a flashing check engine light and can only assume that a lot of the crud was bypassing the rings and burning. My understanding is that a check engine light flashing is an exhaust/ converter overheat problem. A couple of lifters and O2 sensors later it was running good again, but that was after several oil changes which did help some.
