Engine Performance problem
2002 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 110 k miles

My Explorer lacks power. It was running fine even though it had a intermitten P1151 code. It starts and idles fine but lacks power especially going up hills. I have changed the MAF sensor and the OS2 sensor located before the catalytic converter. I do not have any error codes at this time. Could I have a clogged fuel filter?

Ok to answer your question yes it could be a plugged fuel filter and if it has been a long time sense you have changed it last then it could probably use it anyway. Now it could also be a TPS or a cat plugging up or? Have you checked anything as of yet like fuel pressure and exhaust flow? Have you run a test on the tps? Let me know what you have done and we will do a couple of tests you will need to have a digital multi meter to do some of the tests.

I just changed the gas filter, plugs and plug wires but still lack of power under a load(up a hill, starting from a stop sign, etc). l checked the TPS and it reads .94vdc at idle, 4.6 vdc at full throttle. Is that too high?
I,m wondering about the cat converter, I've noticed that the temp at the exhaust pipe is a lot hotter than my 2005 Explorer. I'm only gauging temp with my hand so take that what its worth. It still has no error codes.

Ok with the added info I would say yes it could be the cat. Call around and see if there is an exhaust shop that could do a flow check to see if the exhaust may be pluged.
