1999 Ford Explorer Humming...4-wheel dr. stuck?

1999 Ford Explorer Four Wheel Drive
Hey there... we used our 4x4 to deliver the State Journal this Winter (100+ inches of snow)
now it hummmmmsss... think it's the 4 wheel drive.
we have tried pushing the Auto button/ the High button and even the Low button (although low only in N or Pk)
Is it an easy thing to get it "unstuck"?
