Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Despite this vehicle being a 98 model, it is just now reaching 40k miles. It hasn't been driven much overall, but hasn't been operated in about 5 years, save a trip around the block ever week or so. We have recently had it inspected, registered, battery replaced and went to have the oil changed and there was a problem. The plug was removed, but oil wouldn't drain, despite the dipstick showing it is full of oil. We were told to take it to a mechanic and have the engine flushed. I seriously doubt that the oil has EVER been changed, but cannot be certain.

Couple questions:

Whats the average price of this service?
Will it actually work to remove the sludge that is blocking?

Couple notes:

The engine sounds fine... no obvious knocking
Seems to run well

Yes it will help, considering you would otherwise have to pull the pan.

You add the flush to the crankcase and IDLE the engine for 5 minutes, then drain the oil and change oil and filter. Do not drive the vehicle with the flush in there or rev the engine.

DO NOT USE FLUSH ON A TURBO ENGINE.
