I JUST BROUGHT A USED 1998 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON , IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO GAIN SPEED. ESPECIALLY UP HILLS.WHEN I GET TO 60 MILES IT STARTS TO SHAKE. MY AIR BLOWS BUT IT IS NOT REALLY COLD.

If you going to have the work done at a shop you need to let them diagnose and give an estimate.
Your armed with some knowledge as to what needs to be done.
Good luck

Honestly I can not I would need to see the vehicle and run some tests. There maybe other things that need repair. You could get a price for a IAC and O2 then add 3hours labor what ever your rate is in your area. Here $90 per hour is what is charged.
Did you buy as is? Off a lot any warranty?
Good luck

THe money you will spend will be nominal in comparison to what you may lose trading off a sick truck.
Get a refference from a friend on a shop and let them check it out then you will know what it will cost to repair.
