my truck is all of a sudden making a loud reving noise while driving and then my RPM's drop... what is this problem?

first things to check are the fuel pressure, fuel filter, cam and crank shaft sensors, pcv valve, throdle position sensor, map sensor, and lastly the pcm witch may need a software update
