Engine Performance problem
1996 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 150000 miles
My check engine light came on and the oil pressure gauge fell to zero...there is no oil loss observable and now the engine makes a slight ticking noise. This happened a couple days ago and the oil gauge flickered and went back to normal, but now it registers zero pressure even though there's oil. What could cause this?

Either a blocked screen at the pick up tube, or a weak pump, or worn engine bearings, causing pressure loss...
