Will the transmission out of a 91 ranger with a v6 2.9 fit into a 94 explorer with a v6 4.0?

No, however, 1991 to 1994 Explorer trans are swapable.

I can drop a 93 explorer 2wd trans into a 94 4x4? I'm deleting the 4x4 transfer case completely. Should be fine right?
