What I see is what's left of the truck, the fuel filter could be in the right spot, but most ford filters are near the rear tire, connected with plastic hoses and locking clips, a fire would most surely destroy yhe fuel line. I am not sure but the 2000 Expidition may have caught fire by itself, the cruise deactivation switches, on some of these I believe were defective and known to cause fires....Here's the recall info...

3,800,000 vehicles where affected by this recall. Good luck! By the way, the vehicles did not have to be on or running to catch fire...

Thank you for taking the time to reply.I'd love to get more opinions if possible.

Another question from our posters.

Can you ask the mechanics if
the hood was aluminum or steel on the 2000 Expedition? No one seems to
know.

This is also a issue with this suv.

Recall Date:
JUN 13, 2006

Model Affected:
2000 FORD EXPEDITION

Summary:
CERTAIN AFTERMARKET FUEL FILTERS SOLD UNDER THE PUROLATOR BRAND NAME, P/N F65277, SHIPPED FROM JANUARY 16 THROUGH JUNE 2, 2006, FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED PASSENGER VEHICLES. DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.

Consequence:
FAILURE OF THIS CONNECTION COULD LEAD TO FUEL SPILLAGE AND, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

Remedy:
UFI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 4, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT UFI FILTERS USA AT 800-230-5876.

Potential Units Affected:
58640

Notes:
UFI FILTERS USA

I also know of a issue with the side courtesy lights shorting out and causing this suv to catch fire. I have a friend that had his burn down in the parking lot at work.

Also the hood on that suv is made of aluminum. As all replacement oem hoods are of that material.

Thank you, I shared this with the people helping with this and their reponse was this.

You've got the wrong recall date, Christine! ML's recall notifications were sent in January 2005 for his year and model vehicle. Not only that, but the fire had already occurred in November 2005.
