Air Conditioning problem
1997 Ford Expedition V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 97 expedition and my A/c blows cold out the rear vents and hot out the front vents. I have pulled out the old control unit and replaced. I recharged the system and for a day it blew cold air, that evening I went to turn the A/C on and front vent started blowing hot air again. I retraced my steps and could not find that I left anything out.

Does anyone have an answer to this problem?

Hi whenyard,

Most probably the air mix vent is leaking due to worn seals or not closing properly due to misaligned linkages.

KHLow2008,

I want to thank you for your reply, Can this be easily fixed and how? Should I leave this for the pros or can something that I maybe can do on my own?

I also want to thank the other gentlemen for his reply as well about that High and low pressure the pressure checked out to be ok.

I tried several things on Friday and read here on another fix to my problem. Truning the tempature dial starting from the warm side slowly turning it to cool and that worked. It now blows cold air. Thank you all for your reply to my question.

Hi whenyard,

You are welcomed.

It definitely was the air mix vents causing the problem and by turning from hot to cold, you managed to get it working again.

Cheers :)
