1996 Ford Escort Repair Question

18cc si 100000 plus miles
Ive recently purchased a car and it seems to be losing power at around 4000 revs could u help me please.it seems as if theres a flat spot there when i push the accelarator,also when i put my foot on the clutch the car keeps reving sometimes

The computer limits the little engine RPM to about 4200. At that many miles it is best to be kind to a high mileage engine.
