I recently did my front disc brakes on my zx2 and I did not include shims because I couldn't find anything to tell me how to put them in and there were not any shims present with the old pads. I was wondering are they really necessary and if so how do I fit them between the pads?

The shims are just there to prevent squeeking and to keep the metal to metal (piston and back of pad) from contacting.

If its not making any squeeks before you replace the pads its your call if its me I'll just install the shims along with the pads
