When hitting the breaks, sometimes I get a vibration and grinding sound. Took to shop and was told I needed a new ABS modulator which would cost over $1200. Found the part and replaced it myself for $125. I still get the grinding and vibration, but not as often. Any suggestions?

When you feel the vibration, is the abs actuating? Is that the noise you hear?

I assumed it was the ABS, because that is what the repair shop told me.

You can tell if the ABS is on because no matter how hard you push on the brake pedal, the braking will not change and the pedal will get very firm.
