E-150 REPLACED #6 COIL DUE

2000 Ford E-Series Van

Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Ford E-Series Van V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 153000 miles

Driving along a couple weeks back and all of a sudden between 55-65 the van starts spuddering/pinging. The vehicle almost feels like a slipping transmission, but cleared up over 65 mph. Code was to replace #6 coil, but now this spuddering can happen on a cold or warm engine on acceleration. The repair shop replaced it again, but same problem. Dealer looked at it and it showed the #6 coil, swapped wires around to create my problem and could not because it does not happen all the time. Left New Jersey and spuddered for 15-20 minutes, then cleared up for 4 hours. Traffic occured, so stop and go and problem came back, then went away. Traffic again and then service engine soon light came on and engine problem cleared up the remaining 4 hour ride home. The pinging occurs on acceration and can continue threw 75 mph. Is this a failing fuel pump?
