1999 Ford Contour Leak around replaced taillight

1999 Ford Contour 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 79000 miles
I replaced a damaged taillight with a used assembly from a dismantler. Now I have a leak when it rains (leak into trunk). Old and new assemblies had black foam rubber type seal around light, between light assembly and body. That materail was shredded when the light was removed from its original installation (it disintegrated). What material do I use to get a good seal now?
