I have a 81 ford bronco with around 150,00 on the engine and 47,000 on the new transmition.

The other day i went out to try and start it and all it does is make this little click sound like its not even trying to turn over. Everyone has just been telling me that i have a problem with my ignition system but i dont even know where to begin looking. Should i check the distributor, starter, spark plugs, or what? I know alittle about newer engines but dont even know where to start an 81 V8. What should i do and if possible could you give me an idea where that part is located.

I would start with your battery. Sounds like it needs to be charged or replaced. Check terminals for corrossion and tightness. If corroded remove terminals and clean them off. Use a multi-meter and check voltage across battery post. Should be about 12 Volts. If you are unsure how to check just bring battery to an auto parts store and they should be able to test it for you and tell you if it is bad or not.

The clicking is your solonoid saying to start, it could be your starter is stuck. Has it dropped in temperature where you live? Try going under the car and tapping on the starter with a hammer or wrench while someone turns the ignition. Let us know how it goes.
