I am having a hard time removing the valve springs and the engine is still in the vehicle. I can get the valve spring removal tool on and compress the spring but can not get the retain clips off. What can I do?

You have to thread in a air attachment on a air compressor on that cylinder that you wanna remove the valves and turn the motor by hand till the air stops leaking out of the valves. After that is done then you can compress it, you may have to tap the valve with a brass hammer to break the clips loose.
