Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Aerostar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Aerostar sputters, read code for engine light, reads misfire on cylinders 1 and 6, also camshaft position sensor. What relation is the camshaft sensor? Is the ignition coil the problem? I'm not even sure if its distribitorless or not?

First thing I would do on this is too pull of the camshaft position sensor. I think you will find the shaft (syncro assy) itself is bad.

Take off the sensor and get a look underneath to see how it looks. Prolly chewed up. Napa sells the with the tool to install it as well for around $60
