1994 Ford Aerostar

Hi,
After sitting a few monthes my !994 areostar (149000 mileage) only drove a few miles till it died and wouldn't start again. After tring to give it a jump start it would crank over but not start. I thought it might be the fuel pump, but I can hear the pump make a whriling nosie when the key is turned over. Can it still be the fuel pump?
