1992 Ford Aerostar Repair Question

Mileage or trip meater shows "error
Computer problem
1992 Ford Aerostar 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 197,00 miles
My 1992 Ford Aerostar use to flash between "ERROR" and "actual Mileage" but now it only displays "ERROR" I don't know what that means. I am worried that I may not be able to Smog or register the vehical without proper Mileage showing.
