Check engine light came on had the code read at auto zone bad egr valve. Replaced egr valve check engine light went off. 3 days later check engine light comes back on had code read bad egr valve replaced a second time and same thing check engine light go's away for 3 day's and comes back on and reads bad egr valve. Engine is the 3.0. Any ideas why the egr valve would keep going bad

The mistake is that diagnostic fault codes never say to replace parts or that they're bad. They only indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis. Half of the time there is a wiring problem, corroded connector terminal, or something like that. In this case there is no way the Engine Computer can run self-tests on a mechanical valve. The fault code has to do with the sensor on top of the valve or the computer saw insufficient flow. Those are the things that have to be diagnosed. There are over a dozen potential EGR fault codes and they all mean different things and have different diagnostic procedures.
