Drivers side tail light stuck on

Noticed while driving home tonight that my wife's mkz tail light was stuck on all the time. When she breaks the passenger side light and the third break light operate as normal. Any suggestion on what could be causing this issue?

Check the bulb first

That would be easy to do if the bulb was accessible but it is some how molded into the entire lens assembly and can not be removed. I am hoping I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to replace a $3 light bulb/LED... SMH

PS The tail light and turn indicator work but when you step on the break, the light goes out.
