1989 Dodge Van alternator+regulator

I have a 1989 B250 ram van 5.2 liter with no alternator, I have been told that this year van had an alternator with external regulator. There is no regulator to be found. I have traced wires and it looks as though it never had one. Did dodge make an alternator for that year with an internal regulator.
