My truck had the transmission replacect about 5000 miles ago. I noticed a vibration when hitting a rough spot on the road. The shimmy goes through the engine and tranny to where you feel it through the shift stick. It is bad enough it could break your hand. The front end shakes and jumps that it has become dangerous to drive. I have replaced the motor mounts, shocks, vibration dampner shock, and have had the whole front end checked and it passed inspection. Could the sway bar bushings be causing such and extreme shimmy?

Usually its the idler arm or ball joints that cause bad shimmys. But if yo have put giant tires on your vehicle you coud be experieincing what is called "death wobble". Meaning it starts to wobble bad and doesn't quit until you stop. There are certian things that need to be done to the suspension to stop this due to the oversize tires. You might try a steering dampner to help out but if you have put larger tires on then you may have to do some suspension reworks.
