1990 Dodge Spirit driver side noise

Car drives fine but I hear a sound as if something is loose and bouncing against something. Do I need new shocks? Could something be loose? A friend did the old fashioned test and pushed down on the front of the car and it moves down a lot.

Sounds like a real good time to do a visual inspection, you can usually see what is loose. It helps to have the car on a lift. Don't get under it unless it is safely supported.

Loose steering or suspension parts can be dangerous, so don't ignore the noise till you understand what it is.

Is the noise coming from the front of the car?

One thing that often bangs around is the exhaust system. There are some elastomeric mounts that can break and let it move around.
