Last night I glanced out the kitchen window I noticed my brake lights were on, I went out to investigate who may be in my truck and no one was in or near, when I opened the door brake lights went out.

Hello,

It sounds like you might have an intermittent short in the brake light switch, which is triggering the brake lights to stay on.
The brake light switch is located behind the brake pedal bracket. When you depress the brake pedal the brake light switch gets pressed and the lights come on.
Over time the internal spring for that switch can go weak and stay connected when the pedal is not depressed, thus keeping on the lights.

I have attached the diagrams as well as the switch testing procedure below.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
