2002 Dodge Ram running hot

ram 1500 noticed running hot raditator res had leak replaced it and thermo still running hot pegs gauge within ten miles when i flushed raditator and refilled only 2gal to fill manual says system holds 4 any ideas as to why wont completely drain

the reason it only holds 2 is because when its drained only the radiator is drained and not the engine block.

to drain the engine block you will need the block plugs to be removed!!

for the overheating you may have a error with a water pump, or it could be an issue with a bad thermostat or plugged radiator.

even off ignition timing or a lean fuel mixture can cause hotter than average temps.
