2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 check engin light is on

My check engin light is on but runs prorperly tightned the gas cap and still the light is on what should I do before I take it to the dealership

find out what code you are getting from a autoscanner. if you are getting p0440 to p0456 it could be a hole or crack in your evap hose.
