Reverse stopped working

Hey I got this 2001 dodge ram 1500 and I came home and went to back into my driveway an the reverse did not go into gear what could that be keeping in mind that it is an automatic

This transmission has 2 bands that require peiodic adjustment. One is adjusted from the outside and one is on the inside. There is a link on tihs website for a repair manual. It will have precise instructions on the band adjustment. You will need to get about 6 quarts of ATF4 trans fluid and a pan gasket if you adjust the inside band.
