2001 Dodge Ram engine dies when braked

On the way to work, when I braked, the engine died, and would not restart. It sounded rough when it did try to restart. My boyfriend did put a chip in it a few weeks ago.

Is your check engine light on? If it is, have you had it checked to see what codes are in it?
I take it the chip that was installed is an aftermarket performance chip. Performance chips change the factory fuel settings and may be causing your issue. You can try changing the chip back and see if the condition clears up.
I did check and found no technical service bullitens or recalls for this condition.
