2001 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

after getting a complete engine detail @ car wash, the check engine came on when it hadn't been on prior, what is the possible cause?

Ok it is hard to say it could be because things like the plug wires got wet or? So what I would like you to do is call around to your local parts stores and see if one does a free scan. Go get it scanned and write down the codes and then have them clear the codes. Get back to me with what codes you found and I will see what the truck is telling us.

They scanned it @ autozone & it came up idler controller valve so I figured if I took it for a long drive & let the engine get hot it might dry up ---- after driving about 70 miles it's still on, I guess I need to go back & have them clear it.

Ok go back and get it scanned and write the code down. Now have them clear it and get back to me with the code and we will see what test to do to make sure what the problem is.
