The truck cranks quite well but will not start, when a little starter fluid is squirted into the intake, it hits but then dies. I can't find out anywhere if this truck has something like a fuel safety cutoff switch and if that could be the culprit, and I hate to just go buy parts and replace them until something works, (the fuel pump is a $220 dollar part).

Hi TerryL45, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation and selecting us as your auto repair site Feel free to ask questions at anytime and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2010.

Do you hear the fuel pump come on? If so, check the fuel pressure if it's within specs. And also, check the injectors if they are pulsing. Now if you don't hear the fuel pump, check the fuel pump fuse and the fuel pump relay.
