1996 Dodge Ram wont start

1996 Dodge Ram 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my truck wont start unless it is jumped off i just replaced the battery and it still will not start on its own, also when it is started as soon as I let off the gas it dies.

What is the symptom when it doesn't start? One loud clunk from the starter? No sound at all? Lights stay bright or go out when cranking?

Once the battery is disconnected or run dead, the engine computer must relearn "minimum throttle" before it will know when to be in control of idle speed. To meet the conditions for this to occur, drive at highway speed with the engine warmed up, then coast for at least seven seconds without touching the brake or gas pedals.
