i have a cummins turbo intercooled diesel engine that when coming to a stop the oil pressure guage drops to zero then recovers what can cause this to happen

First you need to put a mechanical oil pressure guage on it an ssee if it does it with that. If it does'nt then it's either a sending unit or guage gone bad. If it still does it then it can be -low oil- the pump pickup broken off or loose parts on pump or a bad oil filter.
