My wife was in an accident and the check engine light came right on it was the front bumper near the driver front headlight. I guess my question is depending on the location of the PCM could there be a open or short wire near this computer? Because the only computer I see is below the right front headlight. Any info would be good. Also, I noticed her car uses a lot more gas now then before.

I am attaching the info that you requested. However, I suspect whatever the issue is, we have some codes. So let's start there. Here is a guide on how to check for codes:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Once we know what codes are there we will better know what damage is done. However, it is unlikely that the issue is a shorted wire as that will normally not cause a decrease in fuel mileage. There is a chance that this is the cause but we will only find it out if we pull codes for the check engine light and go from there. Thanks
