1999 dodge intrepid 2.7L
97000 km

Recently I was coming home from work, and came to an intsection and the engine died. It restarted made it to the next intersection and died again. The car would not start. I then popped the hood and discovered the engine oil was very very low, however, when checked a few days prior the level was exactly where it was supposed to be. Now I am told the engine is broken due to the oil loss. A mension of the Main Bearring being blown. Since then I have learned of this being a common problem, however I've not been able to find repair advice, only complaining. I've heard through a grapevine that there are conversion kits to change the faulty 2.7L engines over to a more relaible 3.2L engine however the parts stores I have went to have had no knowledge of this. can you help me out, I've got the 3.2, and no kit to convert it over and put it in my car, Iwas also told you need a seperate conversion kit for the A/C however again I am unable to find these kits at stores or online.

I am not to sure on the these coversion kits, I think, Its the design of the engineered motor, Could be easier to have the same motor completely rebuilt, Or get another motor 3.2L engine from the auto wreckers, For example 96-97 3.8L V6 mustangs have a problem with bottom end bearing failure, Due to lack of oil getting to the crank bearings, In time it fails. Friend of mine has got his 3.8 motor completely rebuilt, No problems, Also could be a problem with the stock parts fail, Maybe with some proper after market quality crank bearings, Connecting rods, Will correct that issue, Also using a synethic oil will help alot more.
