1997 Dodge Intrepid Transmission Censor

I would like to know if you have to change out both transmission censors if only one censor is not working and can you just take the transmission pan off and reach and replace them manually or should I allow someone to take the whole engine out to replace it. The transmission if fine but JUST THE censor needs to be replaced.

Both sensors are on the left side (outside)of the transmission.
