heater core

1999 dodge durango 5.2l v8

i ordered a manufacturer part heater core of this veh, my question is will a autopart store part work just the same? the manufacturer part has some type of sponge outlined around the sides, does that matter? Im looking at 212.00 vs 34.00-50.00 for a part out the store

i think your sponge is just more of a seal. bit of weatherstriping does the same. the autopart stores work just as find as the manafacture one for 1/10th of the price, make sure you get one thats identical hook up alot of autopart stores may have differnent necks on them.
