I am having a problem w/ switch or key, car want start using the key

are the electricals working (i.e. headlights, radio etc..) ? does the key turn properly in the ignition cylinder? check for anti theft light to ensure it is on staying on solid , if it is then you may have an issue with the vehicle's anti theft system.
