02 4.7L V8 ENGINE 82,000 MILES - TRANSMISSION

2002 Dodge Durango

Have " Check Engine" light on. Scans say Torque Converter Clutch out of acceptable limits. No noticeable transmission problems. Fluid free of debris. I have two shops recommending rebuild of my transmission. This would cost me somewhere between $2,200 and $3,000. I am hesitant to do a rebuild for just a " check engine" light code being set barring any other indication of impending failure such as debris or loss of gear or slippage. The first shop I took it to initially recommended replacing the solenoid block at $500 but, after hearing that the second shop recommended a rebuild, changed their tune and recommended a rebuild as well. Can I trust the first shop? Should I rebuild? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
