1997 Dodge Dakota Repair Question

2wd 4cyl 2.5l
It takes me usually 3 times to try to start the pick up. Turning the starter & pumping the gas pedal. 3rd time it usually starts (5sec per try). I replaced the wires & plugs. Where should I look to fix this. Thanks. Ron
