My 2000 Dodge Carvan, 156000, began to make a whinning noise when I slowed down after a 75 mile trip. It would shift through the gears fine, however when I would start to go after a stop sign it had trouble getting up any speed. I stopped it. Came back several hours later, cranked up and took off, got about 30 yards and it lost power.
I was told it was my transmission. I am not sure.
About a month before, I had to add over a quart of transmission fluid because it was grabbing and tugging and making grinding noises. Later found that my brakes were making the grinding noises, but adding transmission fluid helped with the grabbing and jerking problems.
