If there is something wrong with the battery, there is no testing done until a new or properly charged battery is put in it. After replacement, the starting, charging system, and electrical system in the off position must be checked. If a battery is bad, your van can not be properly tested. Start with a new battery.
The powertrain control module requires a good battery to operate the recharging of the battery. Good luck.
