My truck was running great, two days ago I drove the truck all day no problems. Then parked it for an hour or two, went to go to store, it started up fine but stalled down the road at a stop sign. Started right back up. It did it several more times then today it quit and wont start. It cranks but no fire. I can hear fuel pump kick on. Please help.

Hi,

We need to check a couple of things. First, when you have a crank no start condition, usually it is either loss of ignition spark to the plugs or a fuel issue. The easiest way to check this is to see if it will start a couple of seconds using starting fluid. If it does, then we know it is a fuel-related issue. If it doesn't change, then it is likely ignition-related.

If you would rather, here are two links. The first explains in general how to check fuel pressure. The second is for testing for ignition spark.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-an-ignition-system

Also, here is a link that explains the most common causes of a crank no start condition:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Here are the manufacturer's specifications for fuel pressure:

Fuel Pressure (Key ON, Engine OFF) .................... 379-427 kPa (55-62 psi)

If you find there is no spark, I suspect it could be a bad or faulty crankshaft position sensor. Take a look through this link. It explains common symptoms of a faulty crankshaft position sensor.

If you have no spark and that link mirrors what you experience, here is a link that shows in general how one is replaced:

If you determine if it the crankshaft position sensor, I attached the directions, pictures, and relearn procedures below specific to your vehicle.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
