Control arm replacement

I am replacing the control arms on my i30 and just want to know when to tighten the bush link pin nut to the control arm. With the tires on the ground or with the control arm with no weight on it. I have them completely installed one side so far and I tightened it with the control arm just hanging freely but it seems like the car is higher then it was. So I don't know if I should loosen the nut with the tires on the ground with full weight on it, letting it settle then re tighten the nut in that position or just leave it as I have it now. Any help would be appreciated. Dave Image page SU_8

Link pin does not effect height. It keeps the car from swaying.

I do understand that it keeps the car from swaying but it also is connected to the control arm through a bushing and then it connects to the frame with four bolts. But where it connects to the control arm there is a nut that tightens it where it passes through the control arm bushing. Should that bolt be tightened prior to having any load on it or after a load is on it.
