2001 Citroen Xsara Flood Damage
Engine Performance problem
2001 Citroen Xsara 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 100K miles
Our car stalled in a flooded ford which was about 15inches deep and fast running water. We had to abandon it for about 15 mins while we got help. We managed to start it again whilst in the water and drove it out of the ford but it is now blowing white smoke out of the exhaust and sounds very lumpy and not much power when trying to accelerate. We left it in situ to hopefully dry out and will revisit tomorrow to see if it has recovered. Any idea as to any sever damage this may have caused? and also is it likely to be dangerous to drive it?

catalytic convertor may be damaged ..never try and start vehicle in flood water above exhaust pipe and water can be sucked into engine ?
