WATER PUMP PROBLEM

2006 Chrysler Town and Country

Engine Cooling problem
2006 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 80000 miles

I took my van to Jiffy Lube for an oil change, and went ahead with the recommended coolant flush - just to be a good " car maintainer". The following days my van didn't seem to be shifting properly, and then the temperture pegged on HOT and all the bells went off. I immediately pulled over and called Jiffy Lube. They sent someone to help me within 10 minutes (impressive). My coolant had only been half full. Three days later, by van began leaking. I took it back to Jiffy Lube and they told me that the seal for the water pump is bad. Could the low coolant/overheating incident have killed my water pump? Thank you!
