What is the typical cause of a blown head gasket
We have a Chysler, PT Cruiser, 2001. The head gasket just blew. We had it in for an oil change and repair at an Express Oil Change. We told them the oil light was coming on, the car was leaking, and overheating. 711.00 dollars later we were back on the road. A couple of days later, the head gasket blew. What might have caused this type of major repair. The car has just over 89100 miles on it.

Overheating the car is the typical way to blow a head gasket. It can also wear of time, but since you said you overheated the car then it's a good bet that is what did it. What did they charge $700 plus dollars for. Did they make repairs before the head gasket went.
