SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL?
Chrysler PT Cruiser
2002 PT Cruiser automatic. 45000 miles. Leaving my house yesterday and moving at approx 20 mph, I heard a high pitched whine. After a few hundred feet the clutch began slipping and the engine revved as if it had slipped into neutral, although the selector was still in D. Pulled over, put it into Neutral, then back into D. It went another couple of hundred feet, and did the same again. This time putting it into Neutral and back to D didn't help. (I was in a hurry so I didn't think to try other gears including R at the time.) No previous transmission symptoms, and no apparent fluid leaks. The car had been standing for about 9 hours prior to driving it, it had been fine that morning.
