Transmission problem
2003 Other Chrysler Models Front Wheel Drive Manual 42000 miles

All lights come on display panel when key is put into ignition. Sometimes when starting there is nothing there at all so only option is to bump start. If left for a while or so the car will start with the key first time THANKS.

When you bump the starter, will it start? Also, have you checked to make sure the starter wires are clean and tight? Also, check the ground at the engine block.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks for the info joe-I went to a chrysler dealer who diagnosed it as a fault on a part of the clutch that has something to do with when you depress the clutch. They uncoupled some part of the clutch so you do not have to depress the clutch to start it. Since then it has started first time and I have had no problems. Do you know if you need this feature on at all or is it just for safety?

It sounds like the safety switch. If I am correct, its purpose is to make sure you don't start the car with the clutch out. If I have the correct part, if you forget to push the clutch in and the car is in gear, the starter will move the car.
